Hamster | Amy Loveless
My hamster used often to play with me,
He wiggled beneath my shirt.
Each new day I walked past his place,
knowing always that he waited
to put some light on my face.
But that day I walked out without noticing...
Without seeing the open door to his cage,
without noticing his empty place,
My face was where first my friends noticed
His sunshine had left its place.
Not one was sure why, but as
I looked in the mirror, I saw then
quite clearly
He lay lost at the foot of my bed.
