Two Covers | Trent Gurney
I knew where it had been
All along.
Finding it only took a little help.
She told me she had seen it,
Somewhere
In the basement.
Right where I had left it,
The book I had loved as a child.
Pages worn and wrapped
In a blanket of dust,
It now had two covers.
I sit.
Begin to read,
Losing myself in what was lost.
And then I knew
I could find
Anything.
All along.
Finding it only took a little help.
She told me she had seen it,
Somewhere
In the basement.
Right where I had left it,
The book I had loved as a child.
Pages worn and wrapped
In a blanket of dust,
It now had two covers.
I sit.
Begin to read,
Losing myself in what was lost.
And then I knew
I could find
Anything.
