Introduction /Karrie Gull

My Interesting thing happened to me while I was living in Alaska. I had the great opportunity to serve a mini mission which consisted of a 6 weeks transfer. At Zone conference my mission president announced to us that we would be having a guest speaker in a couple of weeks, and that it would be Elder Richard G. Scott. Everybody was very excited about the prospects of seeing and meeting an apostle, and I especially couldn't wait.
Soon the day arrived, missionaries from all over the mission were gathered together at a local stake center across from the Alaska temple. The excitement was think in the air, and I was so amazed that I was were I was, I felt so lucky to be there.
The seating was arranged in a large rows which made a large half circle, the length of which nearly touched both ends of the gymnasium walls. The sister's and the older missionary couples were all sitting in the first row. Elder Scott was introduced to us, I was amazed at the strength he prevailed. During the conference Elder Scott would walk back and forth a lot and many times he would come within a foot of the first row. In the process of his talk he kept cracking jokes, but nobody would laugh. It was as though everyone thought that laughing would somehow offend him. I can't remember what he said, but I remember thinking that one of his jokes was very funny. But seeing that nobody else was laughing I was trying to hold my laughter in. I suppose my face turned some shade of red because Elder Scott looked at me and as he did I breathed in and SNORTED so loud. Talk about embarrassing, I was humiliated. The funny thing about the situation was he started to laugh and said, "well at least somebody appreciates my jokes." By this time all of the missionaries were laughing, and I suppose I was the blunt of the joke. Although it was embarrassing it was an experience I will never forget, and therefore it is something I find interesting about myself.
