Rachael Fawcett | Introduction

The most interesting thing about me is that I love to write. I write poetry, short stories, and the occasional script. Currently I am working writing a fantasy novel about a girl who rides dragons. So far the book is still in the rough draft, and has yet to tie itself together. In whole so far there are thirteen chapters.

Marissa, the daughter of Sandria and Eilatan Sorceice, who after her mother dies giving birth to twins, is taken in by the village wizard and his sister. Marissa soon learns of her own abilities as a mage, and that the mage and his sister are really her aunt and uncle. But just as she starts to understand her situation, she is forced to leave her home town by the invading Varderls. On her journey she meets up with her father who has been gone for a long period of time. He takes her with him on his dragon to meet the Elves. There she learns that she is to become a dragon rider and other important details about her own life that she never knew before.

Someday I wish to publish my book under the title Flight of the Dragon Rider, but that is still a long way off. I know that this seems like a pretty normal thing for a creative writing student to be doing, but for me it is almost a miracle. I was once told by a teacher that I couldn't write, anything, poetry, stories, or essays. Then another teacher told me that I could write, all I had to do was put the pen to the paper. Without that teacher I would not have been able to write again. Because of that teacher my writing has improved significantly.

That's not all there is that is interesting about me, but the other stories will have to wait. There is not enough time to tell my interesting life story. So this will just have to do. Someday there may be more, but for now goodbye.
