I like this--hitting someone only damages ourselves. Is that what you intended? If so, you may want to consider making the contrast more explicit, like: hitting someone else only bruises ourselves... or something like that.
I agree with Nancy. If the effect you are going for is that we only bruise ourselves by hitting others, a slight rewording will help. If that isn't the effect you were going for, I may have misunderstood it.
