Grandpa was always willing to give good advice. He was very silent and reserved in an old country way, so when he said something everyone listened with more intensity. At a young age I became intrigued with the idea of growing up to be a cowboy just like my hero and grandpa.
It was in the same week that grandpa died when he sat by me on the old couch which was the very center of the old farm house that was built by my great great grandfather over a hundred years earlier. He spoke of his deep desires for me and my future. It was in that conversation that I learned of his own desire to be an accountant for a large firm in a big city. The dreams that he had as a child to leave our small town and work in an office were never realized. His life was a contrast to his dreams because his father advised him to stay on the ranch and carry on the responsibilities of the family business. At the end of our conversation he placed his fingers in my long red hair and told me to runaway from Alton, our small town, and go some place big and to become someone important. The desire for me to tell him of my dreams to become a cowboy remained a desire and not an action, and my secret is safe from him because the next time I saw him was at his funeral.
Years passed and I lost myself in the hard work of ranching in hopes of loosing the memory of my grandpa’s advice. When I began to develop a desire to be educated and important I would work harder to convince myself that I was a country boy and nothing more. The summers were filled with nights on the cattle trails; it was in those nights that I would feel the fear of being uneducated in a century where education is important. Perhaps he was right.
It was on an early Saturday morning of the year 2002. The frost had converted every thing into a world of beauty over night. Though all the other kids my age were doing Saturday activities like duck hunting and four-wheeling, I was moving cattle off the hill by the grave yard. The sound of distant four wheelers and hunting trucks turned my head to the small village from time to time, but I had work to do. I was a real cowboy, and to prove it I worked six days a week instead of five like all my lazy cousins who had plans to move to the city and acquire educated jobs anyway. They didn’t care about the traditions of the ranch, so I had to.
In the glistening of the bright frost I moved the cattle past the grave yard when something caught my attention. Through the tangled oak trees I could see my grandpa’s grave. Though I should have stayed with the heard, I left to visit the beaconing grave that lay beneath cold stretching branches. The frost on the headstone bothered me so I scraped it off with my hands so that I could read his name. In that moment I felt the last conversation with my grandpa come back into my mind. At first it bothered me but in seconds I felt a smile transform on my face. I felt free to leave the ranch and go to school or anything that I wanted. When I let the grave sight, I didn’t finish my job with the heard; instead I went hunting with my friends. As I attend school and look for intelligent jobs, I am thankful for the old frosted headstone that helped me remember a life changing conversation.

((All I can say is, "Crap, I totally forgot." Pathetic, I know.))

A curly-haired blonde walks to her high school late one morning. The streets are mostly empty, but for cars of other late-goers. The sound of a car following her slowly is slightly disturbing, but she figures it's probably some lame football player who wants something she can't---or won't give him. She's suddenly gagged and blindfolded. She is, of course scared, but at her wrigglings of protest, she only hears laughter. She is pulled into the car and they drive for what seems like a long time. They stop and she is carried, firefighter-style up stairs and onto a hard plastic chair. (her arms and ankles have been tied) Suddenly, the blindfold is removed and a large group of people are surrounding her.

Those people spend the day with her. The entire day is spent in shock and disbeleif for her. Why would they do this to her? The others only laugh and continue with their fun. When the day is over, she is returned home, only to find her mother has prepared her a beautiful birthday cake. Her mother, wonders what is the matter, and her father presents her with a huge art set, one she's always wanted. She is still in shock, and she does something very unexpected.

An extremely successful rock band is on tour, and has a stop at a major city, in a major stadium. After a brief rehearsal in the stadium the band members split to experience the city, but not before the guitarist, a clean-cut, law abiding and phenomenally talented individual, begs the other two members of the band to stay sober for the gig. This leads to an argument over whether personal lives are the bands business. The bassist/singer and the drummer, two typical, shaggy-haired, drugged up rockers depart together to find a club, hopefully one that will involve strippers and booze. In the cab on the way there they debate what to do about the guitarist and his too good attitude. A conclusion is reached that he is to be replaced by someone who fits the rocker image that the drummer and bassist think the band has. A hard decision, but one they think is worth it. They then enjoy the next several hours clubbing, drinking, womanizing, and sampling the drugs of the city.

Shortly before the show the drummer and bassist return backstage to find that they are the only ones there. This is odd as the guitarist is usually sitting warming up for several hours before every gig; it's how he gets ready. As the show gets closer the worry rises. A cell phone rings and the drummer picks it up, listens, and puts it down. The guitarist was in an accident, and is dead. Both remaining band members have a brief cry, and in the few minutes before the now non-existent gig decide not to replace him, that they are calling it quits, out of respect. The bassist even vows to clean up his life. The two of them step out on stage before a packed stadium, to deafening cheers, and announce what has happened.

Finally they would be able to get away from the homework and crappy food associated with college life. In two hours, they would be dancing and singing as their favorite band performed. To make things interesting, they had raided the local Good-Will and bought crazy outfits for a total of $2.97 each. The only problem was they would be taking a bus to the concert because none of them had a car. This meant they had to wear their outlandish outfits on the bus. Some people who ride the bus tend to be shady characters. But they weren't worried... after all, they were going to a rock concert. People at rock concerts are often drunk or high. Besides, one of the three girls carried mace in her purse.
Two hours later, they found themselves stepping off the bus, into the noisy and crowded streets of the big city. None of the girls had been to the music venue before, but one of the girls felt extremely confident and claimed she knew the streets by heart. The other two were ridiculously trusting. Maybe only because she was their roommate, and they didn't know the city. As long as one of them claimed she knew where she was going, the other two would follow blindly.

It eventually joined up with an old mining shaft and descended deeper into the earth.
They kept going and until they heard some distant noises. Holding back they waited to see if they could decipher the noises. They had been descending in the tunnel for what seemed to be hours. The noise got louder and louder and soon they discovered that the tunnel was caving in. Hurrying down the tunnel the two men became disoriented and tired. They came into a cavern where they were hit with an incredible stench. Was that an explosive on the ground ahead of them? Were they being set up? They were lost and disoriented and now would have to survive in this place and hope to escape or be rescued themselves.
